SIR, I was entertained agaian this week by the LPAG's latest attempt to stir up bad press for the proposed marina in Larne.
Would someone please tell them that there is a new application for the Larne marina - a revised scheme that ticks all the boxes by including a conserved right-of-way on an extended promenade, underground car parking, a landscaped park, information ce
ntre, a restaurant and cafe that some people in Larne might just enjoy using! Did the LPAG actually bother to look at the plans on view at our local library?

The LPAG keeps harping on about obaining the ASM Howarth report by using the Freedom of Information Act, can I just say that however dramatic this sounds, it is now irrelevent when discussing the new proposed marina scheme. Perhaps our mayor will advise them of this after he reads the much talked about letter and report that the LPAG have sent him. That is, if he wastes his valuable time and ours reading this report based on the previous application.

Also, why would anyone think that looking at the accounts of Glenarm marina be in any way relevant to those of the proposed marina in Larne? In terms of population, location, facilities etc, it would be madness to think that they are comparable. I will await the LPAG's latest headline grabbing scoop on that one!

I read the article "Prom group seeks council response" (Larne Times, April 10) with a terrible sense of deja vu. We all read about the failed attempt to develop an astroturf pitch at Sandy Bay. Some active objectors to development at Sandy Bay are amongst those who would threaten the marina project - a £42m development for our town. The objection letters to both the new marina and the astroturf pitch are available for anyone to see and I would direct Councillor Dunn this way should he want some enlightening but repetitive reading.

Name and address withheld.
